Frequently Asked Questions
Elberg MD12 Mk2
78RPM and RIAA Phono Preamplifier
Can the Elberg MD12 be used in a non-professional setting?
Yes. Although the unit has XLR output connectors, it will work well with other equipment using RCA phono connectors, provided you use adapters.
Can I purchase the unit directly from MasterDigital?
Yes, but we don't accept credit cards. We do offer payment via PayPal to confirmed addresses only.
Can I return the unit after I buy it?
You can return the unit (in new condition, with all original documentation and packing material) for any reason within 7 days, less shipping and a 10% restocking charge. If your unit is not operating properly during the first 180 days, we will replace the unit or refund your purchase, less shipping, at our option.
Is there a popping noise when changing the eq settings?
Yes. This is an artifact of any design where a resistor/capacitor path is changed in a feedback loop. Slowly changing eq settings greatly reduces or even eliminates audible popping.
How does the Elberg MD12 Mk2 compare to other archival/vintage phono preamplifiers?
That's a comparison you should make on your own, but other archival/vintage phono preamps are made by KAB and Millenia Media. If you know of other archival/vintage phono preamps in current production, please let us know so we can include them here.
