Jazz Is Back in Grand Rapids Concert
The largest crowd to attend a local jazz concert in years was present at Civic Auditorium Monday night for the appearance of the Woody Herman and Louis Armstrong bands. And although Herman, whose outfit plays a "progressive" type of jazz, was greeted heartily, it was easy to see where the majority's sympathies were. They were with the great Satchmo and the five piece "combo" he had with him....
