The "Hometown Skiffle" record released in 1929 was the first record by Paramount featuring a "sample" of the label's top artists for the race (black) market. It contained a short segment of performances by six artists of the biggest sellers on the label. Although Blind Lemon Jefferson, the company's best selling male artist, is listed as appearing, it is highly suspicious. A guitar solo is played by Lemon according to the record's producer, but no singing is heard....
