Mem Shannon's 2nd Blues Album
If someone ever tried explaining New Orleans to an outsider by using lyrics from some of the Crescent City's famous songs, what a strange and magical place New Orleans must sound like: there's fire on the bayou, Indian chiefs drinking firewater, a loup garou (half-man, half-werewolf), junko partners, saints marching in, paper in the shoes, and a lifelong virus of rockin' pneumonia and the boogie woogie flu. Plus the good times always roll, people do the Mardi Gras mambo and the Cissy Strut, holler "Ooh Poo Pah Doo," and eat jambalaya and etoufee. You'd think that no one actually works for a living.... Personnel Guitar + Vocals - Mem Shannon; Sax - Tim Green, Lance Ellis (track 9); Drums - Jeffrey "Jelly Bean" Alexander, James Varnardo (track 3); Keyboards - Jackie Banks; Piano - Chuck Chaplin (tracks 2 + 7); Percussion - Carlos "Du Du" Martinez; bass - Peter Carter (tracks 1-4, 6, 7, 9, 10), Mark Bingham (track 5, lead bass), Mem Shannon (track 5, 2nd bass) Selections
