Brooklyn Four Plus One

Brooklyn BeBop: Most specifically Brooklyn BeBop refers to the impact this famed borough (of New York City's five) had on the new Jazz of the 1940's. Sixty years ago a number of adolescent musicians from Brooklyn were among the very first to hear and comprehend the message of BeBop's creators, Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie. These young players sought out Diz & Bird. Their purpose was to learn. Soon, Diz & Bird found a purpose for these young players. They placed them in their bands. This young generation of Brooklyn musicians became the artisans and craftsmen for the architects Gillespie & Parker, in building the musical structure, BeBop.
