Red Norvo has been one of my jazz heroes ever since "Dance of the Octopus and the big band records of the Norvo-Mildred Bailey Commodore Band (who can forget that sax section sound in "Remember"?) Red has been responsible for the rise of many musicians: Eddie Sauter, Herbie Haymer, Dave Barbour, Stew Fletcher, to name a few of the Norvo-Bailey band....
