She discusses issues faced in the transition to digital preservation including standards development, the new skill sets required for engineers. She also discusses "preservation" through access and her efforts to liberate "orphaned" recordings. Tulane University Music Department, Dixon Recital Hall on April 27, 2005 at 6:30 PM. 2004 Meeting Schedule October 5, "The New Music Technology Program at Tulane" - Tae Hong Park discusses the formation of the new Music Technology program at Tulane, including the undergraduate curriculum development between the Departments of Music, Arts & Sciences, and Engineering as well as the Masters program in Music Technology. He also gives an overview of the field of Music Technology, and discusses his research into Timbral Recognition. Timbral Recognition is the process of identifying musical sounds using various digital signal processing techniques. Tae Hong Park is an Assistant Professor of Music at Tulane University and is a composer and researcher in digital audio applications in music. He has an undergraduate Electrical Engineering degree from Korea University and worked for several years designing vocoders for cellular telephones. He earned a masters in Electroacoustic Music from Dartmouth College, and received his Ph.D. in Music from Princeton University this year.
